The magic Sulcis: visit of Carloforte and Sant’Antioco

We are in the Sulcis subregion to the south west of Sardinia and today you will discover an archipelago rich in history and fascinating stories. Here there are several islands of which the main ones are the Island of San Pietro, whose center is Carloforte and the Island of Sant'Antioco. where are two center: the
homonymous town and Calasetta.

In a geological context is the Sulcis area the oldest part of Sardinia, but also from a historical point of view i has an important record: here was founded Silky, considered the oldest town in Italy.

You will visit the characteristic historic center of the Island of San Pietro, the town of Carloforte, animated by three distinct cultures, which but coexist under a single dress: the Ligurian soul, the Tunisian one and the Sardinian one.

You will get to know every corner of its historic center and breathtaking views along its pristine coasts. Tuna fishing still exists here and you will discover the techniques, habits and ancient traditions still alive linked to its fishing. In the afternoon, traveling by ferry to Calasetta you will reach the center of Sant'Antioco to visit the only
true catacombs of the patron saint of Sardinia Sant'Antioco in the cathedral of the same name. Don’t miss the mysterious byssus museum, where you will discover ancient rituals of an ancient art still alive in the Mediterranean since the most remote times.
